High Mountain Snowmobile Tours

Come join us for a scenic ride through the Routt National Forest and the Upper Elk River Valley. We have groomed trails for all abilities, providing fun for the whole family. High Mountain Snowmobile Tours, Inc. offers 2 and 4 Hour tours, with an emphasis on personalized service and the 4 Hour tours include lunch. We limit our tours to 6 or fewer machines. Riders are grouped by ability with plenty of guides to insure individualized attention no matter how large your group. Drivers must be at least 16 years old and have permission to drive from parent. Drivers must be 18 years or older to have a younger passenger. Helmets MUST be worn by all drivers and passengers. A 24-hour cancellation policy for full refund.

Clothing: Snowmobile boots, helmets, and snow bibs are provided. We recommend that you bring your own goggles or sunglasses, gloves, and a warm jacket. Helmets must be worn by all drivers and passengers.

Location: Call for directions and a pick-up location nearest your lodging.

  • Mountain Locations: Gondola Square Transit Center, Timber Run, Thunderhead Lodge, Torian Plum, Sheraton Hotel, Phoenix Condominiums, Lodge at Steamboat, Steamboat Grand, and the Shadow Run bus stop.
  • Downtown Locations: 7th & Lincoln, Celebrity Resorts (Pine Grove), Celebrity Resorts (Hilltop), Rabbit Ears Motel, and the Hampton Inn.

Driving Directions: Elk River Valley - Drive on RCR 129 to the town of Clark, 16 miles north of US 40, turn right of RCR 64 (Seedhouse Road) and continue 5 miles to the end of the plowed road.

Steamboat Snowmobile Tours

Discover the magic of snowmobiling Colorado's Continental Divide. Our extensive trail system on Rabbit Ears Pass is a snowmobiler's dream. Come experience this Rocky Mountain Playground.

The Dinner Tour takes you over moonlit snowfields through a Rocky Mountain wonderland on world-class snowmobiles. Explore breathtaking expanses of Champagne Powder® and rugged peaks on a snowmobile ride along the Continental Divide, then dine just below a 10,000 foot peak in our secluded mountain cabin. Your choice of Grilled Ribeye Steak, Rocky Mountain Trout or Fire Roasted Chicken with a Vegetarian menu also available.

Location: Call for directions and pickup locations nearest your lodging. Please call 24 hours in advance to re-confirm your meeting time.

Driving Directions: If you decide to drive instead of taking advantage of the pick-up service, then take Hwy 40 east, up Rabbit Ears Pass. Steamboat Snowmobile Tours is .5 miles past mile marker 151. Slow down when you see the mile marker, as there is no sign. Turn right on the plowed road.

Saddleback Ranch

Saddleback Ranch guided snowmobile tour goes over 8,000 acres of groomed trails and open meadows, the only snowmobile tour that operates on private land. Enjoy the opportunity to see gorgeous views of the Flattops, Mt. Werner, Sleeping Giant and the Zirkles. The 2-hour tour has daily pickup times at 8:30 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. The Half-day package has 3 hour snowmobile tour, 1/2 hour tubing, lunch and pick-up at 8:30 a.m. We use 2 passenger 2006 and 2007 Polaris 550 Sport Tour snowmobiles. After the ride, warm up with a cup of hot chocolate at the headquarters.

Dinner Tour: Enjoy a beautiful mountain sunset and an adventurous 1-hour evening snowmobile tour of moonlit Saddleback Ranch. After arriving at our brand new Long Horn Lodge, hit the slopes at YEE-HAW HILL for an hour of snow tubing, exclusively open for dinner snowmobile tour. After snow tubing indulge yourself with a delicious, (fourth generation family recipe), "all you can eat" spaghetti dinner served with fresh garlic bread, romaine salad dressed with a garlic vinaigrette, and homemade desert. The dinner tour is available on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights.

Location: Saddleback Ranch provides front door transportation to and from the ranch in brand new luxury vans. Saddleback Ranch is located just outside of Milner, a 15 mile drive from Steamboat Springs. If you wish to drive to the ranch, take HWY 40 West out of Steamboat 10 miles. At mile marker 122 take a left onto county road 178, which will turn into County Road 179. Follow County road 179, 3miles across the rail road tracks, over the river and pass a housing development, the ranch is on the left side of the road.
